Hollycraft
Originally known as The Hollywood Jewelry Company, Hollycraft sold under their own name and also manufactured for several other companies, including Weiss and Pakula. Hollycraft is one of the few companies that, at least in the 1950's, dated their jewelry with the year of manufacture. Known for a distinctive mix of small stones and particularly sought after for their pastel combinations and Christmas tree brooches, Hollycraft remains one of my favorite brands. Hollycraft ceased production in the late 1970's.

Description: Hollycraft Topaz Rhinestone Earrings - As these are undated, I would circa date these to early 1960's. A fairly complex design using four larger stones around four smaller stones at the center, and bordered with more small stones alternating with cast hobnails that are also found other places in the design. These are three dimensional, with the small stones at center being at the highest point in the design. All set in goldtone, please note that the ear clips use the keyhole design often ascribed to D&E production. Since Hollycraft also manufactured for other companies, it is possible that some unsigned Hollycraft production is being identified as D&E, though there is nothing in the topside design to indicate such. Description: Hollycraft Multi Green Rhinestone Brooch and Earrings Set - The brooch uses peridot, green tourmaline, and emerald aurora borealis rhinestones in goldtone; the earrings use peridot aurora borealis, green tourmaline, and emerald aurora borealis in goldtone. Description: Hollycraft Copr. 1955 Multi Pastel Brooch - Of all the types of pieces Hollycraft made, I consider the multi pastel the most appealing. This small domed brooch uses yellow, deep aqua, pink, light blue, lime green and lavender stones in various shapes and sizes, particularly nice are the channel set baguettes in pink and yellow. Description: Hollycraft Copr. 1956 Brooch and Earrings Set - Done it what I think is jet AB (often referred to online as peacock) and clear AB rhinestones, this flashes blues and purples off the dark stones, so it is a little difficult to tell for certain. Brooch is a stylized butterfly, with marquise and oval dark stones, and aurora borealis baguettes and small rounds. Clip earrings use the same configuration, with brooch and one earring marked both Hollycraft and Copr. 1956. The other earring has no markings. Earrings are 1 3/8" x 1" at widest point. Description: Hollycraft Copr. 1950 Lt. Sapphire/Rose Rhinestone Brooch - 1950's Hollycraft just has a certain look that is very appealing to collectors; this lovely combination of light sapphire blue and rose pink rhinestones is no exception. The pink is used as a center for goldtone florals, with the long blue ovals and tiny rounds continuing the flower and vine theme. Note the attention to detail (this brooch is fairly small, 1 3/4" x 1 3/8" and slightly domed) with the ends of the unusually long and thin ovals protected with a metal "bezel". Description: Hollycraft Copr. 1952 Multi Blue Rhinestone Brooch - Another charming brooch for this company, with a great 3 dimensional design. Dark blue navettes are set among strands of goldtone set with light blue rhinestones. Description: Hollycraft "Ethnic" Look Necklace - The use of faux jade, faux lapis, faux turquoise, faux carnlian and faux pearls give this a very wearable look for daytime. Probably 1960's production, this uses a lot of different cabochon shapes as well as opaque glass rhinestones, all set in silvertone. Condition is quite good but it has some minor issues. Metal drop at bottom is tarnished, foldover clasp is worn. One of the pearls has a black dot on it (this could easily be replaced, let me know if you would prefer it.) About 18" long. Description: Hollycraft Clear Rhinestone Necklace, Bracelet and Earrings Demi Set - Though this is not marked with the year marking as was done in the 1950's, I am guessing this is early 1960's because it looks so much like the 1950's pieces. Necklace features an ornate central motif with five dangling pears, baguette and pave set curlique lines, and an unusual domed circles with clear baguettes running down the middle and pave set sides. Necklace is adjustable up to about 19", with a hook and tail closure, and is about 2" at center front including the dangle. Bracelet uses the same domed circles and curlique lines, with baguette lines running down curling leaves. 7 1/4" with foldover clasp and safety chain. Description: Hollycraft 1953 Bracelet, Brooch and Earrings Set in Multi Blue Rhinestone - While Hollycraft did a number of different "looks" over the years, the early 1950's pieces remain some of the most popular with their attention to detail and numerous components. This design uses (dark) sapphire pears and baguettes, accented with light sapphire small rounds, tiny glass half pearls and goldtone curliques on the bracelet and brooch; coordinating earrings use a single dark sapphire oval bordered with light sapphire rounds and the tiny glass seed pearls at the corners. Link style bracelet has a foldover clasp and safety chain, 6 3/4" x 3/4" at widest points. Brooch is 2 1/4" x 1 1/8"; clip earrings are oval, 15/16" x 3/4". Because of the number of paste set components, it is rare to find these pieces with all original stones intact; I have replaced several missing half pearls and a few of the light sapphire small rhinestones. One tiny stone in the brooch appears to be a long-ago replacement where someone used too much glue; I have elected not to replace it for fear of damaging the piece as the glue is an epoxy that is hard as a rock. Description: Hollycraft 1953 Rose Pink & Glass Pearl Necklace, Earrings and Brooch Demi Parure with Original Tag - This set, like the SS1-1003 set, uses the ovals, pears, baguettes, glass half pearls and curliques which were used in the 1953 design series. The necklace is somewhat of a pendant style with a lovely twist chain centered with an oval centered drop with small rounds around the border and corner accents of the glass pearls, with accent pieces in baguettes, rounds and pearls going up the sides for a short distance. 15 1/4", with1 1/8" drop. Even the clasp is special, with small pink rounds on either side of the foldover clasp. Original hangtag that says "created by Hollywood Jlry. Mfg. Co. New York" on one side and "Hollycraft" on the other, in green and gold foil. Clip earrings use pears, baguettes, rounds and glass pearls, 1 3/8" x 7/8". Brooch has oval, pears, rounds, baguettes and glass pearls, 1 3/4" x 1 5/8". I replaced two of the glass half pearls on one earring, otherwise everything is complete, original and in excellent shape. Description: Hollycraft Copr. 1953 Lime Green and Seed Pearl Earrings - Beautiful prong set peridot colored oval rhinestones are surrounded by a row of lime green rhinestones, and bordered with lime green octagons and pears, and accented with rows of glass seed half pearls. Goldtone setting, slightly domed. These measure 1 1/4" x 1" but look larger due to the number of stones used. Back sides show plating wear at contact points as is typical of this style of earring, and one earring finding is spotted from sitting in a bank box for several years, but the top sides are very good. Description: Hollycraft Copr. 1952 Pendant Necklace - Done with smoky topaz cupcake rivoli stones and smoky topaz rhinestones, this goldtone necklace is all original, including the often used rhinestones flanking the foldover clasp. The chain area measures about 21 1/2", with the dangling pendant about 1 7/8" x 1 1/4". Pendant is set with three large and one small rivoli, with a number of chatons on both the upper and lower parts. Description: Victorian Revival Style Earrings - Chandelier type dangle earrings from the 1940's, with screwback findings. Light goldtone setting, with lots of aqua rhinestones and three sizes of cream colored glass pearls. 1 1/2" x 3/4". Other than plating wear where the dangling part rubs on the connecting ring, everything is in excellent condition. These go nicely with necklace UN5-767. The lovely Joyce Chorbajian, daughter of Hollycraft owner Joseph Chorbajian, was kind enough to tell me that these are, indeed, unsigned Hollycraft earrings. Description: Hollycraft Japanned Dangle Earrings with Clear Rhinestones - I guess the title about sums these up! Clip earrings use a "fleurette" at both the top and the center of the earring, with leaves at the bottom, all paste set with clear stones. Top to bottom measurement 1 3/8" by 1" at widest point. Hollycraft mark is somewhat difficult to read but perhaps you can see it in the picture at the bottom of the fleurette on the dangle portion. No year given so these are probably 1960's. These certainly exhibit all the design quality and craftsmanship that you find in any colored rhinestone piece. The clip earrings are 1" x 3/4" and are silvertone and quite dimensional.
